Sitting in the Car

This afternoon Ivanna and I went on an errand together. We brought Mary Scot with us. While sitting in the car listening to music, within the glove box I found this: (written in Uriah's hand)

Ivanna: My car just squeals easily.

Dad: Yes, when it's nearly airborne.

Joke - From Texas

Why did the chicken cross the road?

To prove to the armadillo it could be done.

I Meant To Do My Work Today

I Meant To Do My Work Today

by Richard Le Gallienne

I meant to do my work today,
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.

And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand--
So what could I do but laugh and go?

The Soundtrack to Our Lives part 1 of 5 (or 4)

Every once in awhile one may run across one of their lesser known works. This happened to me rather resently. So get ready for a journey to the very depths of hell.
story
I believe this maybe a roughdraft.

So you may ask "why are you serving this vanilla story in a room full of chocolote?"
The answer is, to quote a famous author, "that if something is worth doing it is worth doing badly." And I believe that story telling is worth my time.

side rant. Notice that I did not call this an epic journey. That is because I hate it when people call there own work epic.

Without a fence between...Dog + Chicken = Trouble

Today I looked out the back door to see Mary Scot running excitedly around. I thought this could mean only one thing. This is of course, because one of our chickens is a wonderful flier. She can fly straight over the fence walls - I've seen her do it.
I dashed outside catching a glimpse of Hatchy, flustered, but quick, racing away from MS. The chicken was able to slip through the neighbors picket fence while I caught the dog. Poor Hatchy was finally found unharmed in the neighbors yard and returned to her pen. We'll be roofing the pen tomorrow!

Be careful - It might not be what you think you hear

Tonight while at Fins, a nice coffee shop in Santa Cruz, my siblings, a friend and I were whispering while a group was jamming. My friend whispered my way (at least this is what I think he said.)

"Creepy."
I was like, "Huh?"
"The song," he says, "is creepy." He points to his ear in a motion that says listen. "It's a stalker song." He adds.

Uriah points at an older fellow then whispers to me, "That old guy is a stalker?"

Anti-Thesis

While I was in Idaho (The wedding was a great success by the way.) my brother gave me a copy of Anti-Thesis. Super wonderful. I enjoyed it so much I reread most of it. Check it out. You might find something useful if you like truth.

Golden Vanity

Saturday is our work day. Today started with a Bible Study at 7am. Technically not true, today started with Mary Scot waking me up to go outside. After a deliciouses breakfast we headed outside to begin our work. Osanna's goal was to clean up our back patio. And with the help of Ivanna, our friendly neighbor, (Whose name is being withheld for privacy.) Osanna, Mom, Dad and I we succeeded in cleaning up the patio. It was so successful we were able to enjoy an evening jam around the fire.

Eggs

Uriah did a cool trick while cracking an egg into Mary Scot's food dish. Ivanna did not.

What Funny Ideas We Have!

Yesterday one of my students really cracked me up. I over heard him telling some students that "Such and Such Girl" was his girlfriend. Then I hear that "Such and Such Girl" had kissed him. Knowing her parents would not like this (from conversations we've had) I decided I needed to ask some questions.

He came forward looking nervous. I asked what he was talking about and he said:
"Well, "Such and Such Girl" kissed me, and so now I think she's my girlfriend and we're going to get married."
I respond to him:
"Are you nervous because you think you're going to have to marry her?"

He says with confidence:
"No, that's what happens after you get kissed."

Poem for Lis

Poem for Lis
November 24, 2003

I really cant wait
but she will be here late

I am so happy
she is going to see her "Pappy"

Her husband will see
I am happy as a bee

She will be her for Thanksgiving
I am glad that she is living

She may be a pain
but I can see that is gain

Her family she may love
though she's not a white dove

We'll never throw her to a sitter
though she may smell like litter

Her house may be clean
and her budget so lean

Her dogs favorite is sugar
but he also likes burger

Seven months her husband was gone
yet she kept up his lawn

Written With Love,
Ivanna and Osanna
